On November 5, 2022, as part of its first 2022 edition, Mines Awards Guinea organized in Conakry at the national capital, a ceremony to reward the best companies and leaders operating in the Guinean mining sector, as well as the localities exploited for the excellent use of taxes paid to them.

Mining giants such as RUSAL have benefited from trophies in Guinea. According to our report from West Africa, several other key mining players have also received distinctions.
The Mines Awards Guinea aims to recognize mine safety records in Guinea. The Mines Awards Guinea intends to award prizes every year, as a reward, for mining actors' achievements and impacts on local populations and Guineans in general. This event is meant to all honour Guinea's safest mining operations.
Nafisatou Sylla, the Vice President of the organising committee of Mines Awards Guinea, said, "Mines Awards Guinea is a ceremony that rewards the best companies and leaders operating in the Guinean mining sector, without forgetting the localities exploited for the proper use of the taxes paid to them. Prizes will be rewarded to mining sectors yearly for their achievements and impacts on our populations."
Mining giant RUSAL, one of the world's largest aluminium producers, is among the companies honoured by Mines Awards Guinea on November 5, 2022.
Rusal's representative in Guinea said, "RUSAL has been operating in the Republic of Guinea since 2001, being one of the largest foreign investors in this country. RUSAL owns the Compagnie des Bauxites de Kindia (CBK) and the Friguia bauxite and alumina refinery in Guinea. In addition, RUSAL continues to carry out a project to exploit the largest bauxite deposit in the world, Dian-Dian, in the Boké region. RUSAL is the world leader in the aluminium sector. In 2021, the Company accounted for approximately 5.6% of global aluminium production and 6.3% of alumina production."

For more than 20 years, Rusal has been successfully developing its activities in Guinea. And throughout these years, we have consistently supported Guinea's education and health system. In 2015, Rusal built a modern epidemiological centre in Guinea to fight the Ebola epidemic and, in 2020, created another multifunctional infectious disease treatment centre to counter COVID-19. Over the past decades in Guinea, thanks to our scholarship programs, hundreds of Guinean specialists of various qualifications have received quality training in Russia.”
