National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has posted its year-round achievements for fiscal 2018-19, where it mentioned about recorded capacity production of bauxite at Panchpatmali Mines totalling 74.14 lakh tonnes, which is the highest since inception. The transportation of the ore has also been ever-highest totalling at 72.31 lakh tonnes.
{alcircleadd}Besides, the Navratna CPSE achieved the distinction of lowest-cost producer of bauxite and alumina in the world (as per the Wood Mackenzie report).
The production of NALCO’s alumina hydrate, as well as cast metal also scored highest since inception at 21.53 lakh tonnes and 4.40 lakh tonnes respectively, for the fiscal period of 2018-2019. Further, Steam & Power Plant (SPP) of Alumina Refinery achieved highest ever net power generation.
Per the financial report of NALCO, its smelter plant has achieved a Specific Electrical Energy Consumption of 13,370 KWH per tonne of aluminium, playing a significant role in reducing input cost and saving around INR 54 crore. Output of wire rod, billet, green anode, rodded anode, T-Ingot at NALCO’s smelter also stood highest ever since inception.
NALCO’s total metal sale stood at 4.41 lakh tonnes in FY2018-19, up 3.5 per cent year-on-year while domestic sale pegged at 4.02 lakh tonnes, registering a growth of 14.9 per cent over last year and highest since inception. As per the Public Enterprise Survey of Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), the company has been rated as the 3rd Highest ‘Net Foreign Exchange Earning CPSE’ in the country for the year.
