National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Schedule 'A' Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, has reportedly communicated that its ongoing expansion of alumina refinery and plans for expanding smelter have proceeded backed on the operations of allotted coal blocks and Pottangi bauxite mine.

Backward integration and securitisation of energy and bauxite have positioned the company secured for the next 30 years, said NALCO Chairman and Managing Director Sridhar Patra at the company's 44th Foundation Day on Monday, January 7.
NALCO celebrated the day at its corporate headquarters at Bhubaneswar and at its operating units and regional offices, remembering its unparalleled success over more than four decades.

In a function organised at NALCO Nagar, Bhubaneswar, CMD Sridhar Patra, along with the Chief Vigilance Officer and Functional Directors, greeted the employees and acknowledged their dedication and hard work.
"The strenuous efforts of the last 43 years and constant pursuit towards exhibiting excellence in almost all domains of business have succeeded in creating a formidable business enterprise like NALCO and the company has always striven to do better than the previous set benchmarks," said Sridhar Patra.

Pottangi bauxite mines allotment
In December 2019, NALCO received the allotment of Pottangi bauxite mines in Koraput district of Odisha, following the public hearing for environment clearances whereby villagers from periphery areas favourably voiced support for NALCO to carry out mining and developmental activities.
