Brazil-based leading beauty brand Natura has upcycled used Nespresso coffee capsules into their 'Ekos Castanha' range of hand moisturisers.
One of Natura's best-sellers will be launched in this sustainable packaging on October 28, on the occasion of National Aluminium Recycling Day.
According to Mariana Marcussi, Marketing Director at Nespresso Brasil, the brand's capsules are already made from 80% recycled aluminium. The Ekos Castanha hand care tubes are made from 100% recycled aluminium, 10% of which comes from Nespresso capsules, which corresponds to the reuse of more than two tons of capsules per year. "The partnership with Natura Ekos thus strengthens the circularity of aluminium to create an even more environmentally and community-friendly sector," she adds.
However, the sustainability approach does not conclude here. The Natura customers may also be asked to return the Ekos containers to the Nespresso coffee boutiques so that their proper disposal can be ensured. The compiled tubes and capsules will be dispatched to the Nespresso recycling hub in Osasco, São Paulo, Brazil.
"We are also working to ensure that the more than 400 Nespresso collection points in the country have the capacity to receive and give a second life to products from both brands," declared Mariana Marcussi.
