Increasing demand for grab-and-go coffee solutions
Nespresso’s venture responds to the increasing demand for convenient, grab-and-go coffee solutions. The launch of Nespresso’s RTD coffee in recycled aluminium capsules highlights the brand’s commitment to innovation as it continues to evolve with the preferences of modern coffee drinkers nearly 40 years after its founding.
The brand saw significant growth during the pandemic as consumers embraced speciality brews at home. Now, as more people return to busier routines, Nespresso is expanding into the portable coffee market to adapt to shifting consumer preferences. In 2023, the brand achieved double-digit growth in North America, gaining market share from competitors. This positive trend extended into 2024, with Nespresso reporting mid-single-digit growth in the first half of the year and continued market share gains.
The RTD coffee market is thriving, with global revenues projected to reach $36 billion by 2024. Statista estimates the sector will grow at a compound annual rate of 5.4 per cent through 2028. Nespresso, launched by Nestlé in 1986 and introduced to the US four years later, became renowned for its premium coffee and high-end customer service.
