The 240L yellow-top recycling bins will be collected fortnightly, while the red-top general waste bins will shift to weekly collections. Both of these will include items ranging from aluminium bottles to other metals, glass and papers.
The new Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will handle recyclable materials collected from the yellow-top bin, including aluminium, hard plastics, steel, paper, cardboard, glass bottles, and jars. The processed glass will be repurposed into construction materials for local road projects, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and fostering a circular economy.
Recycling aluminium and steel conserves resources and requires significantly less energy compared to producing these metals from raw materials. Aluminium, in particular, can be recycled repeatedly without any loss of quality. While many items are recyclable, not all should go into the yellow-lid bin. To find appropriate recycling options for items that don’t belong in your kerbside yellow-lid bin, check with your local council or visit Recycle Mate for guidance.
While many items are recyclable, not all should be placed in the yellow-top bin. Most bottles, jars, containers, hard plastics, paper, and cardboard are suitable for this bin. For other items, refer to Recycle Mate to find appropriate recycling locations for items that don’t belong in your kerbside yellow-top bin.
