In November 2022, primary aluminium production in North America stood at 308,000 tonnes, reflecting a drop of 5,000 tonnes or 1.60 per cent M-o-M following an increase in the previous month, found the International Aluminium Institute. In October 2022, the output grew by 12,000 tonnes or 4 per cent sequentially from 301,000 tonnes to 313,000 tonnes.
{alcircleadd}However, on a year-on-year calculation, North America’s primary aluminium production stood the same.
In the eleven months of 2022, primary aluminium production in North America totalled 3.422 million tonnes, down by 3.82 per cent from 3.558 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
In South America, primary aluminium production during November 2022 also dropped month-on-month by 3,000 tonnes or 2.5 per cent, reaching 117,000 tonnes, according to IAI. In October, the output in South America was 120,000 tonnes, up by 5,000 tonnes from 115,000 tonnes in September 2022.
On a yearly basis, South America’s primary aluminium output edged 19.39 per cent higher than 98,000 tonnes.
From January to November 2022, South America’s primary aluminium production totalled 1.165 million tonnes, down by 9.7 per cent from 1.062 million tonnes.
