The Pennsylvania Beverage Association aims to modernize Pittsburgh's recycling program by investing $650,000 through its Every Bottle Back initiative.
{alcircleadd}This investment facilitated the provision of free curbside recycling containers to 50,000 households, which is expected to yield nearly 25 million pounds of new recyclable materials over a decade. This collection includes almost 1 million new pounds of PET plastic and 370,500 pounds of aluminium.
Additionally, this investment will help Pittsburgh move closer to its "Bag Free in 2023" target, enabling the beverage industry to collect more 100% recyclable bottles and aluminium cans for remanufacturing.
Aluminium cans are made up of the purest form of the non-ferrous metal. Therefore its recycling process is quite simple, and no additional sorting is required making aluminium cans one of the most value-adding products in the chain.
