PETROSOL Platinum Energy Ltd has announced the appointment of Daniel Acheampong, a seasoned corporate leader and former CEO of Volta Aluminium Company Ltd (VALCO), as its Board Chairman. Mr Acheampong assumed his new role on May 16, 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience in strategic leadership and human resource management.
{alcircleadd}Mr. Acheampong's illustrious career at VALCO spanned 36 years, during which he held various key positions, culminating in his appointment as CEO in January 2014. Under his leadership, VALCO reinforced its status as a cornerstone of Ghana's integrated aluminium industry. His tenure was marked by significant strides in stakeholder confidence and operational excellence, driven by his commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct.
Before becoming CEO, Mr. Acheampong served as Deputy CEO, overseeing Human Resources and Administration, Public, and Legal Affairs. His extensive background in human resource management and strategic leadership significantly influenced VALCO's success. Recognising his contributions, VALCO named a new state-of-the-art steam boiler after him in March 2024.
Mr. Acheampong is highly respected within the Ghanaian business community. He served as President of the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) from 2018 to 2024 and held the presidency of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners, Ghana (IHRMP) from 2007 to 2011. His accolades include induction into the Corporate Ghana Hall of Fame and the Ghana Business Leaders Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mr. Acheampong’s appointment aligns with PETROSOL’s strategic vision for the future. He brings a results-oriented approach, leveraging his extensive board experience to guide PETROSOL toward achieving its strategic objectives. He is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other private firms.
In his remarks, Mr Acheampong emphasised the importance of continuous improvement and pledged to transform PETROSOL to secure its position in the Ghanaian market and beyond. PETROSOL’s CEO, Michael Bozumbil, expressed confidence in Mr Acheampong's leadership, highlighting his alignment with PETROSOL’s core values of integrity, professionalism, and excellence.
