Primary aluminium production in North America in October 2021 stood at 318,000 tonnes, flaunting an increase of 14,000 tonnes or 4.61 per cent month-on-month, found the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). In September, primary aluminium production came in at 304,000 tonnes, down by 11,000 tonnes or 3.49 per cent from 315,000 tonnes a month ago.
On a year-on-year calculation, North America’s primary aluminium output in October 2021 stood 4.79 per cent or 16,000 tonnes lower than 334,000 tonnes.
From January to October 2021, North America produced 3.25 million tonnes of primary aluminium, 1.81 per cent less than 3.31 million tonnes during the same period last year.
In South America, primary aluminium production in October 2021 amounted to 100,000 tonnes, which was up by 4,000 tonnes or 6.38 per cent from 96,000 tonnes in September. In August, the output stood at 101,000 tonnes, meaning primary aluminium production in South America edged 5,000 tonnes or 4.95 per cent lower M-o-M in September.
On a year-on-year basis, South America’s primary aluminium production in October recorded an increase of 13,000 tonnes or 16.09 per cent from 87,000 tonnes.
From January to October 2021, South America churned out 964,000 tonnes of primary aluminium, which reflected an increase of 16.43 per cent from 828,000 tonnes.
