Pro-Ject Audio Systems has unveiled The Classic Reference turntable, touted as an extensively enhanced version of its Classic EVO or a refined successor to the VPO 175 limited edition. This model features the EVO 9 AS HG tonearm, equipped with high-precision ABEC 7 bearings encased in a substantial aluminium gimbal, ensuring smooth, resonance-free performance.

The high-mass aluminium alloy platter, damped with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), effectively reduces unwanted resonance. The turntable comes with a clamp and leather record mat for additional stability, enhancing resonance control and providing superior sound quality.
The Classic Reference turntable by Pro-Ject Audio Systems showcases a tonearm mounted to a substantial aluminium alloy top plate, supported by TPE pods that isolate it from the MDF plinth. The record platter is driven by a belt-connected aluminium sub-platter powered by an AC motor. Pro-Ject’s proprietary DC/AC generator supplies stable, interference-free power by isolating the motor from the AC mains.
With onboard balanced, full-sized XLR outputs, users can connect The Classic Reference to any compatible phono stage. At the same time, RCA/ground connections are also available for use with the included Connect it Phono E cable set. Available by special order only, the Classic Reference comes in either a silver finish with a gloss black plinth ($5,999) or a brass finish with an Acacia plinth ($6,999).
