The German company Rekkord RCM has developed an innovative cleaning device for spotless vinyl records. Scheduled to be marketed by February, this aluminium-cased cleaning device is going to upscale the maintenance spree in vinyl collectors and enthusiasts.
{alcircleadd}A vinyl record, whether old or new, loses its actual song-playing quality after multiple uses; therefore, this device will be honoured by true curators of the art form. The Rekkord RCM has been equipped with a vacuum motor that 'completely' restores and cleans records in two distinct rotations while unleashing an eco-friendly, non-alcoholic cleaning liquid.
The aluminium surface of the device has been claimed to have water-proof or fluid-proof specifications that manage the excess outflow of cleaning fluid into the device without inflicting any recognisable signs on the chassis. Aluminium is corrosion resistant and has lesser chances of reacting with the cleaning fluid, thus making it the most feasible choice for materialising this RCM device. Rekkord also illustrates the best way to clean a vinyl record would be a forward rotation of the pallet, followed by a backward twirl.
The device's robust puck holds the record still during the entire cleaning process so that the vacuum arm and the motor can run parallel on the surface of the vinyl record. It also saves the record from excess cleaning fuel so that the surface is not damaged and the sound quality remains intact.
A water-proof microporous rubber layer separates the platter so it cannot seep water in, ensuring the record's rear end stays shiny after each cleaning process.
After cleaning the records, the inner 2-litre aluminium container fixed with the RCM device gathers the used liquid. It has been claimed by the company that most of this cleaning fluid will automatically wither away into the atmosphere, allowing ample intervals between each residual clean-up.
