Rusal confirmed on October 5 that its Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter remained unaffected despite a significant blaze erupted at the facility spanning over 21,528 square feet. Krasnoyarsk Smelter is one of the largest smelters in the world and a key site where Rusal introduces cutting-edge technologies. It is the only smelter in Russia that produces high-purity aluminium.
{alcircleadd}Thanks to the prompt action of firefighters to combat the flame, no injury or damage occurred due to the incident. On October 4, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations ensured the fire did not spread to nearby structures.
TASS, a state-owned Russian news agency, detailed the incident, stating that pallets immersed in flames covered an area of 21,528 square feet, and a production building took up an additional 2,153 square feet. Also, an adjacent service area for cargo trucks was near the blaze, as communicated to the Russian media.
Recent trends suggest a surge in fire explosions across the Russian Federation. Some of the incidents are believed due to unidentified drone attacks. Another fire incident was reported on the evening of October 2 at a warehouse in Rostov-on-Don.
