On 7th December 2021, the leading global aluminium producer announced that it has secured the silver sustainability recognition level from EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most trusted business sustainability rating provider. EcoVadis also supplies intelligence and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains.
{alcircleadd}The Russian aluminium giant is constantly working to enhance its environmental, social and management indicators, introducing sustainable development principles into the activities of all structural divisions and enterprises. However, this year, the company was awarded the EcoVadis Silver medal following an independent assessment, which confirms RUSAL's significant progress in improving sustainable development practices compared to the 2020 assessment, when the company was awarded the bronze medal. The silver medal places RUSAL in the top 25% of the global companies evaluated, and recognizes the Company’s long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
Irina Bakhtina, Director for Sustainable Development of RUSAL, noted: “We know how attentive our consumers and partners are to the EcoVadis ratings. Their appraisal and methodology are known, first of all, for their uncompromising nature and constant tightening of requirements. It is all the more gratifying that the assessment of RUSAL's progress towards the world's best practices in the field of sustainable development has resulted in such a high ranking. However, we will not rest on our laurels with regards to what has already been achieved: the next goal of our aluminium giant is to be awarded the gold level.”
The world's largest and most recognized business sustainability rating platform, EcoVadis is regularly assessing more than 75,000 organizations in 160 countries. EcoVadis assesses companies' policies, actions and reporting on environmental impact, labour and human rights compliance, business ethics and sustainable procurement practices.
