Technal, one of the world’s leading providers of aluminium building systems for doors, windows and facades in France and a part of the Norwegian aluminium and renewable energy giant Norsk Hydro announced the launch of ‘Hydro CIRCAL’ in Saudi Arabia. The sixth edition of “World of Technal: Seminar on Sustainability and Building envelopes” was concluded on Wednesday, October 26.
{alcircleadd}Sam Robinson, the managing director at Hydro Building Systems for the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia, applauded Saudi Arabia’s building development and construction accomplishments. He also praised the company’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by implementing creative green initiatives like the Line project in Neom.
“Technal announced the launch of its latest products “Hydro CIRCAL” in the Kingdom, the world’s first near-zero carbon aluminum made with 100 percent post-consumer aluminum scrap for doors windows and facades,” said Sam Robinson.
According to him, compared to pre-consumer/process scrap and standard bauxite extraction and refinement, “Hydro CIRCAL” manufacturing using post-consumer scrap dramatically reduces the CO2 footprint at no additional expense.
“The building and construction sector accounts for 39 percent of energy related CO2 emissions, in addition to reducing embodied carbon, modern aluminium facade technology with high performances reduces greatly the operational carbon emissions. The advanced technology provided by Technal offers many innovative and dynamic solutions to the Kingdom’s market,” said Feras Farah, sales director for the Middle East.
The distribution of natural illumination, sound and dust proofing, aesthetic and functional features, and many more are additional benefits of technological solutions. Farah said Hydro is stepping up its investments and collaboration efforts in the approaching term to stay up with the Kingdom’s development and construction industry’s continuous expansion, particularly in the upcoming mega projects.
The panel discussion on “Sustainability Trends in KSA” was quite educational and provided insight into the industry’s preparedness for taking concrete and sustainable measures against the enormous construction boom in the Kingdom. On the panel with them was Dr Ali Shash from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Waleed Al-Ghamdi from ROSHN Real Estate, Mohammed Al-Masmoum from Red Sea Global, and Babette Cilliers from Alec Energy.
