The Cumbernauld-Scottland headquartered company Cube Glass, specialising in aluminium and glass, has announced a significant uptick in its trading performance, marking one of its most substantial advancements to date. Revenue has surged by well over £1 million, propelling the company's turnover to a record £4.5 million for the fiscal year ending in October 2023, a notable increase from the previous year's £3.25 million.
{alcircleadd}The primary catalyst for this notable growth in the 2022-23 period stemmed from a particularly sizable contract. Cube Glass secured a significant project supplying screens for residential and retail units as part of a large-scale community benefit initiative spearheaded by a prominent social housing developer in Scotland.
Cube Glass aims to solidify its forthcoming revenues at this level, affirming its commitment to gradually integrating novel international products to sustain its market relevance.
The newly released industry-focused report by AL Circle, titled “Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2024”, has revealed that the performance of the building and construction sector in 2023 exhibited a complex and varied landscape influenced by regional and market segment dynamics, and the year brought a mix of outcomes for the construction industry, with specific regions and segments witnessing continued growth while others grappled with challenges stemming from factors such as inflation, rising interest rates, and disruptions in the supply chain. In contrast to the robust expansion observed in 2021 and 2022, the pace of growth in 2023 was generally moderate. The report also discusses the Euro construction zone (19 countries): GDP vs. construction output, China’s buildings, construction market analysis, etc.
Let’s hear from the Founder
Gary Thorn, the Founder and MD of Cube Glass, said, “Last year was probably the most exceptional year for Cube Glass since the company was established 20 years ago, driven by new levels in contract size. But, while our main competitors concentrate almost exclusively on commercial deals, we also have a strong pipeline of residential work. We are building strong relationships with smaller, high-end architectural practices specialising in this field."
“In domestic work, there is a significant move towards slimmer sightlines and doors with bigger panels and more glass – a trend which is being led by the international partners with whom we now regularly interact.”
Cube Glass has cultivated a successful partnership with esteemed French design and engineering expert Bel'M, alongside its established connections with industry specialists like Senior Architectural Systems, Metal Technology, and Schüco. Gary Thorn emphasised the company's proficiency in handling significant contracts while also showcasing adaptability in tackling smaller, intricate projects.
He outlined, “Some larger competitors are essentially running production lines, but we now have so much experience and expertise in the factory, in project management and especially in design that we can contemplate more challenging individual projects. The flexibility and experience of the fabrication teams is also quite unique, in that they can turn their hands to anything and are happy to undertake challenging work from which other, larger manufacturers might shy away.”
