Aluminium and its usage is not just limited to industrial or architectural purposes but have also found their way into the fashion world. Kenta Yoshizawa, a fashion designer, exhibited his most recent creation, the "Silver Cloak," which, as per the reports, has been entirely composed of aluminium sheets and is large enough to cover a person.
{alcircleadd}Designer Kenta Yoshizawa used 988 etched aluminium rectangles to create a design based on the silver ratio with an organic appearance like lizard skin. He showcased his design at the 4th edition COMPOSITION exhibition by Japanese designer Kairi Eguchi. The cloak has been designed based on the exhibition's theme, "Silver to White Ratio," and Yoshizawa embroidered his silver cloak with 988 rectangles of varying sizes in a pattern based on that ratio.
"The majority of the buildings, products, and paintings in the world utilize the silver ratio in their planning and design. However, as a whole, these are but a small fraction of the many ways the silver ratio can be employed," said Yoshizawa.
The flexibility of aluminium allows for various shape configurations. Additionally, he made a design using a wooden mould and then embossed each rectangle from the mould onto the aluminium sheets, creating a sizable, sturdy, and flexible cloak. The pattern's biomimicry underlines the connections between the silver ratio and living things and suggests new applications for the silver ratio.
