South Korea's imports of aluminium scrap from the US stood at 15,900 tonnes in June 2021, from 21,600 tonnes in June 2020, marking a decrease of 26.39% year-on-year. On a monthly basis, imports declined by 14.52% from 18,600 tonnes in May 2021, as updated by the US Census Bureau.
{alcircleadd}For the first six months of 2021, South Korea imported 121,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap, from 142,000 tonnes imported for the first six months of 2020. That indicated a decline of 14.79% year-on-year.
South Korea's imports of total aluminium (semi-finished products, crude metals and alloy and scrap) from the US were 16,500 tonnes in June 2021, down by 30% from 23,500 tonnes in June 2020. Imports stood 18.32% lower from May 2021’s imports of 20,200 tonnes.
Total aluminium imports came in at 129,000 tonnes in January-June 2021, a decrease of 16.23% year-on-year. South Korea imported 154,000 tonnes of aluminium in January-June 2020.
