{alcircleadd}About Sparklomats
Sparklo is a UAE-based global cleantech leader transforming the recycling industry and promoting sustainable practices worldwide. The company has introduced innovative reverse vending machines (RVMs) called Sparklomats, encouraging the recycling of plastic bottles and aluminium cans by offering exciting rewards.
Established in 2022 within the Al Hamra Industrial Zone of the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), the facility has reached its planned full production capacity of 1,500 units annually, supporting Sparklo’s ambitious regional and global growth objectives.
In a remarkable year of expansion from 2023 to 2024, Sparklo’s network of Sparklomats has grown from under 100 to over 300 installations across the MENA region. This rapid development coincides with a 300 per cent surge in app installations and a phenomenal 1,000 per cent increase in bottle collections, surpassing 50 million bottles collected in the region to date.
Founder and CEO of Sparklo Maxim Kaplevich said, “We’re proud to be part of RAKEZ as we present Sparklo’s innovative recycling solutions on a global scale. RAKEZ provides an ideal environment for our production facility, enabling us to make an impact both locally and globally in regions without established deposit systems. Our partnerships with key players like ADNOC, Lulu, Dubai Municipality, Carrefour, and the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi demonstrate the UAE’s exceptional ability to unite private and public sectors in pursuit of a more sustainable future. Together, we are driving the world toward a cleaner future, reinforcing the UAE’s role as a leader in sustainable innovation.”
Ras Al Khaimah facility
The Ras Al Khaimah facility stands as the cornerstone of Sparklo’s global operations, where pioneering technology is redefining recycling throughout the MENA region and establishing a new global benchmark for sustainability. This expansion underscores the emirate’s role as a prominent innovation and sustainable development hub.
The UAE’s dedication to fostering innovation has been pivotal to Sparklo’s rapid ascent, positioning the company to advance the frontiers of recycling technology. Collecting over 200,000 bottles and aluminium cans daily, Sparklo has set ambitious targets to deploy over 100,000 Sparklomats globally by 2030, to collect 5 billion bottles annually.
RAKEZ Group CEO Ramy Jallad said, “Sparklo’s expansion is a shining example of how RAKEZ supports innovative companies in achieving remarkable growth and impact. We are proud to be a part of their story and are committed to continuing our support as they work towards making recycling accessible and engaging worldwide.”
This includes plans to install 5,000 Sparklomats across the UAE, ensuring comprehensive nationwide recycling coverage. While maintaining a strong focus on the MENA region, Sparklo is also expanding into new markets across Asia and the CIS, with active operations underway in India, Thailand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
