Spectro Alloys Corp has announced $5.5 million expansion at its Rosemount aluminium recycling facility in Minnesota. The expansion will not only boost recycling capabilities but also create jobs and improve melting safety and efficiency by reducing gas and electricity consumption.
{alcircleadd}The company confirms that the expansion project includes construction of a new building with a 21-ton rotary furnace capable of melting a wide range of aluminium scrap. A filtration plant developed using a new technology will reduce emissions from the recycling process. The project is expected to be implemented by mid-2018.
“We are now hiring to fill 10-plus new full-time production and maintenance positions as a result of this expansion,” a representative of Spectro Alloys said.
“The planned expansion has received support from the state of Minnesota’s Job Creation Fund, which provides a grant once investment and job creation goals are met.”
Spectro Alloys ships its recycled aluminium metal to regional die casters and foundries for making new products. This expansion will help the company to recycle a wider range of locally and regionally sourced aluminium products, indirectly contributing towards environment conservation and managing carbon footprint.
Spectro Alloys President Luke Palen says, “We are committed to investing in programs and technology that support the domestic aluminium supply chain, build value for our customers and suppliers, and improve our environment.”
