According to a recent report, Stora Enso and Tetra Pak will enter into a partnership to jointly provide circular solutions to the market. The partnership, that follows a comprehensive feasibility study, will introduce a large-scale carton repulping line at Stora Enso’s Ostroleka production unit in Poland, investing Euro 29.1 million in total.
{alcircleadd}Stora Enso will invest Euro 17 million into a new repulping line that will recover carton fibres, while Tetra Pak will invest Euro 12.1 million to build an additional line to recover and separately recycle polymers and aluminium, using a patented separation technology.
Both the lines are expected to be operational in the beginning of 2023 to triple the annual recycling capacity of used beverage cartons in Poland from 25,000 tonnes to 75,000 tonnes. These lines will allow recycling of the entire volume of beverage cartons sold in the country and the ones coming from neighbouring countries, including Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The separated materials will be used as raw materials for various end applications, such as recycled fibres will be integrated into Stara Enso’s recycled board.
Stora Enso is a leading global provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden constructions and paper.
