Under the guidance of its parent company, DIC Corporation, Sun Chemical has developed a full range of metal decorating products for two- and three-piece cans, collapsible aluminium tubes and monobloc aerosol cans and bottles. This new move will support can manufacturers, converters and brand owners looking for more sustainable packaging upgrades.
Sun Chemical’s SunColorBox colour management toolkit comes equipped with a fully integrated designing portal and press, making it the preferable choice for brands that demand consistent colouring techniques for their flagship production line.
From the toolkit, SunDigiProof is the one service that will appeal the most to the metal packaging sector as it permits a simulating round wherein the user may determine the outcome of the print on an example pack, thus accelerating the real production substantially.
Sun Chemical’s partnership with CGS ORIS has given birth to this metal deco digital proofing solution (flex pack software from CGS ORIS linked to two new metal deco-dependent colour libraries for PantoneLIVE). This technology will enable designers and can manufacturers to chalk out a perfect packaging module for their individual brands without losing innumerable days in R&D.
Sun Chemical is ready to launch the DigiMet range of inks, including UV and LED classifications, compatible with conventional printheads. Sun Chemical’s digital solutions have been designated for two-piece or three-piece cans, being flexible enough to suffice the needs of the beverage market. For food or edibles, the company provides low-migratory inkjet inks and varnishes.
At MetPack 2023, Sun Chemical is ready to showcase all its patented and highly popular metal decorating product portfolio, like SunDuo, SunTrio and SunAltec.
SunDuo is applicable for two-piece cans, and it serves the beverage sector with high-value, adjustable, profound inks that allow high-speed press performance and are applicable on steel or aluminium cans.
The SunTrio is mainly for three-piece cans, providing exceptional press performance and adhesion between the layers in the packaging module. The versatile, cost-effective ink is compatible with metal cans and containers, including aluminium crowns, drums, aluminium pilfer-proof caps, aerosols and food packaging solutions.
Sun Chemical’s SunAltec series is apt for decoration on collapsible aluminium tubes, Monobloc bottles and aerosol cans. The MB Plus Series will also be on display which has been specially crafted for monobloc aerosols.
The global metal deco inks sales director of Sun Chemical, Eduardo Alegria, commented: “A lot has changed in the past six years, but sustainability remains an important goal for us and our customers. Metpack is a great opportunity for us to showcase our commitment to sustainable packaging solutions. We align our own goals with those of the United Nations in its Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. We believe that the actions we’re taking to help develop a more sustainable metal packaging industry will have a positive impact on a number of the United Nations goals.”
