At the Battery Show in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States, Sino Applied Technology (SiAT) and C.S. Aluminium Corporation (CSAC), the two Taiwan companies, have jointly unveiled the test results of a carbon-coated aluminium foil collector designed to enhance battery performance and durability.
The product has gained significant attention from battery and electric vehicle manufacturers due to its exceptional conductivity and ability to reduce interfacial contact resistance. This is particularly important in lithium battery production, where preventing corrosion of the aluminum foil collector is a real challenge.
The carbon-coated aluminium foil collector, a resultant of Sino Applied Technology and C.S. Aluminium Corporation’s joint experiment, serves as a conductive connector between the active material and external terminals of a lithium battery, allowing electrons to flow to and fro.
For being superior corrosion resistant, the new foil collector is efficient in addressing the growing demand for faster charging and longer battery life. The product is compatible with lithium and sodium batteries and supercapacitors.
The Taiwan-origin product has entered the market at a strategic time when the United States and Europe are seeking alternative sources of electric vehicles, battery materials, and aluminium & steel products following high tariffs imposed on Chinese products. This circumstance, in addition, has created a favourable environment for the new carbon-coated aluminium foil collector.
The battery show in Michigan is North America’s largest advanced battery exhibition. It was a four-day event from Monday, October 7, featuring 1,000 exhibitors with their latest products and technologies.
