Uniformity Labs and Tekna extended their partnership to supply aluminium for laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) applications. In this agreement, Tekna will provide the AlSi10Mg aluminium-based alloy to Uniformity to produce its advanced ultra-dense AlSi10Mg powder for the additive manufacturing process.
{alcircleadd}This will strengthen the relationship between the two businesses, which was established when Ti64 provided Uniformity with a crucial North American supply source while also boosting the productivity and efficiency of Tekna.
"Our partnership with Tekna highlights how advanced technology can further increase sustainability to the benefit of a wide range of industries. The complementary nature of our businesses produces an economic benefit for our customers who gain through higher printer throughput and repeatability, and a supply chain security benefit from the use of materials produced entirely in North America," said Adam Hopkins, founder and CEO of Uniformity Labs.
With the help of this cooperation, Tekna can make the best use of the production yield that Uniformity will employ to make its advanced powders for L-PBF. With more than 95 per cent of the powder being used, compared to rivals' 50 per cent to 65 per cent, Uniformity's technology enhances powder production efficiency, lowering costs and enhancing capacity, efficiency, and sustainability in the additive and traditional manufacture of industrial components at scale.
Many sectors, including aerospace, transportation, energy, military, and medicine, can produce components more quickly and consistently using their tailored powders and processes without sacrificing quality. Using the hydro-energy-based Tekna powder atomization technology, production is more environmentally friendly because all process gases are recycled in closed loops. Together, the businesses will support the production of greener, more sustainable parts by industrial clients.
“We are extremely proud that Uniformity Labs has selected us to supply aluminum powders in addition to titanium powders. This is a testament to Tekna’s supply reliability and reaffirms that our product quality matches with a wide range of industry requirements,” stated Luc Dionne, CEO of Tekna.
