Thai premium clothes brand, MANIRAT has woven an aluminium studded evening gown for Miss Universe Thailand 2022, Anna Sueangam-iam. The model wore the aluminium gown for the Miss Universe 2022 preliminary competition on Wednesday, January 11.
{alcircleadd}The composition of the evening gown is unique as the designer Arif Jehwang has incorporated aluminium pull-tabs from beverage cans to unleash this heavenly creation. The dress reminds us of Marilyn Munroe's infamous evening gown at Kennedy's controversial pre-birthday procession.
The gown gets its shiny texture due to the reflective abilities of aluminium. Also, the dress would have comparatively lesser weight than any other metal could have provided. The aluminium pull tabs have been merged like a mesh to form an incredible design.
The aluminium dress immediately turned heads, and the innovative idea went viral with the help of Anna's viral pictures. But underneath the shiny grandeur of the dress lies a very harsh historical sentiment.
The model's Instagram profile post read: "Persistence, tenaciousness, and optimism within her have led her to a great success in life. It is the result of being brought up by a father who is a garbage collector, street-sweeper mother, and a virtuous nun who was Anna's great-grandmother."
Arif Jehwang, the designer from MANIRAT, had probably tapped into Anna's previous life before designing this specific, bespoke attire. To surpass everything, the dress is recyclable and can be considered sustainable. The use of aluminium is crucial to this as the non-ferrous metal is 100% recyclable.
Anna Sueangam-iam has given certain details about the dress on her official Instagram page. The post clarifies the fact that designer Arif Jehwang was completely mystified by Anna's modest upbringing and decided to replicate that with this creation.
"Although she was called by some as "The garbage beauty queen," that never stops her from shining bright as a precious gem," the post notified.
The Instagram post also gave details on the type of materials used for the composition of the dress; "meticulously created from used aluminium pull-tabs from drink cans and Swarovski combined."
