Internationally acclaimed brand based in the United Kingdom, The Body Shop has expanded its sustainable refill drive to incorporate a brand-new flagship product, the Peptalk Lipstick. The Body Shop’s Peptalk Lipstick comes enclosed in a refillable case made of 100% recyclable aluminium.
{alcircleadd}Before introducing the Peptalk Lipstick, the brand served its customers with refillable packaging solutions only across their shower gel, hair care or hand soap ranges. But with this new 100% recyclable aluminium packaging, customers can refill their Peptalk cases at the brand’s outlets.
As early as 2021, The Body Shop began charting a five-year growth plan to erect refill stations in a maximum of its outlets. The Body Shop stores in the US and Canada have taken this initiative very seriously.
Currently, the company has successfully installed refill stations across 800 global stores, counting the 91 outlets in Canada. Almost 50 per cent of the Body Shop outlets in the US have been refurbished with a refill station.
The sustainability programme is gaining immense popularity every passing day, as it has already been estimated that over 40 per cent of the company’s Canadian customers were keen on choosing refillable packaging solutions in place of ordinary or standard packaging. This ultimately leads to curbing down the use, rather misuse, of 90,000 plastic bottles. Moreover, aluminium can be infinitely recycled, making it one of the most sustainable packaging options that, once introduced, stay forever in the production loop.
On an international scale, Body Shop’s refill programme has disbarred more than half a million plastic bottles from entering the environmental and material cycle in 2022.
The Body Shop North America marketing and corporate social responsibility VP, Hilary Lloyd, made a statement: “We want our customers to understand first and foremost that they can be changemakers—and that even small individual acts, like refilling your shampoo or shower gel in a reusable container, can have a big impact on our planet.”
“The climate crisis is the greatest risk facing our future, which is why we call on beauty lovers everywhere to use their purchasing power to embrace a circular economy,” Lloyd added.
The Body Shop is going to inaugurate seven Changemakers Workshop concept stores spread all around Canada in 2023. The concept stores are going to instigate the customers and aid them in adopting more refillable options rather than single-use plastic containers.
