The express growth of Georgia’s aluminium scrap export market during 2017-20

The country is ideally positioned to access markets of Asia and Europe, as well as the Middle East and the CIS countries. Young talent pool, business-friendly regulations, a favourable tax and customs framework and relatively low-cost work environment have played a key role in developing the manufacturing sector in Georgia.

Georgia's Aluminium Scrap export

The Georgian aluminium scrap export market has recorded a rapid growth during 2017-19 as the total volume stood at 9544 tonnes and the revenue generated remained at $15.13 million. The projected export volume for 2020 has been analysed at 5048 tonnes, whereas the income generated might stretch to $9.04 million. When the volume and income figures are added with the previous three years it reflects 14592 tonnes and $24.17 million respectively.

In 2017 the aluminium scrap export market recorded only 1820 tonnes, while income was just $2.60 million, whereas in 2018 the export rose by 149.01%, as the total volume stood at 4532 tonnes, with Y-o-Y excess by 2712 tonnes and the foreign revenue generation stood at $6.39 million, a jump by 145.76% from its preceding year.

The aluminium scrap export of Georgia in 2019 reflected 3192 tonnes and the foreign revenue stood at $6.14 million, while the projection for 2020 has shown growth by 58.14%, as the volume would stand at 5048 tonnes and the income pumped up by 32.07% Y-o-Y.
