Aluminium scrap import by Turkey has increased over the last three years. The country’s aluminium scrap imports increased 25.8 per cent year-on-year to 60353 tonnes in 2017. Turkey delivered about 16366 tonnes of aluminium scrap to the global market in 2017, a decrease of 23.67 per cent year-on-year.

{alcircleadd}According to the recent estimates, Turkey imported about 47970 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2016 with total cost of USD 64 million. The country’s import of this product increased to 60353 tonnes in 2017. The total cost of import was USD 20 million. Turkey is expected to import 74044 tonnes of aluminium scrap. The value of import is estimated to stand at USD 103 million by the end of the current year.
The top exporters of aluminium scrap to Turkey in 2017 were Belgium (9668 tonnes), the United Arab Emirates (8281 tonnes), Italy (5011 tonnes) and Bulgaria (3293 tonnes).
Turkey exported about 16366 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2017, down from 21440 tonnes in 2016. The total value of export was USD 31 million and USD 25 million in 2016 and 2017 respectively. In 2018, the country is estimated to export around 20251 tonnes of aluminium scrap and the revenue from export is estimated to be about USD 29 million.
Germany and the USA were top importers of Turkey aluminium scrap in 2017. Turkey exported 6799 tonnes and 6055 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Germany and the USA.
