The United States aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Canada in May 2023 was 212,000 tonnes, with the total imported amount from January to May being 1.06 million tonnes. On the other hand, USGS data denotes that the amount of aluminium crude metals and alloys exported to Canada in May 2023 was 6,640 tonnes, marking a total export value of 29,300 tonnes from January to May of the same year.
{alcircleadd}The above data tells us that the USA imports a hefty amount of aluminium crude metals and alloys from Canada, while the export percentage is quite low. On a month-on-month scale, the import amount has fallen from 237,000 tonnes in April 2023, while the export rate has swollen from just 4,990 tonnes in April 2023 to the current data in May. US imports from Canada have dropped by 25,000 tonnes or 10.55 per cent M-o-M, while the US exports to Canada have escalated by 1,650 tonnes or 33.07 per cent M-o-M.
In May 2022, Canada contributed to almost 254,000 tonnes of US aluminium crude metals and alloys imports, which indicates a Year-on-Year decrease of 42,000 tonnes or 16.53 per cent. Whereas, in May 2022, the US aluminium crude metals and alloys exports were 6,330 tonnes, with a Year-on-Year spike of 310 tonnes or 4.9 per cent.
If we consider Mexico’s case, the USGS data suggests that in May 2023, the US aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Mexico were 1,780 tonnes, while the export was 13,600 tonnes. It can be seen that a completely opposite trading structure is followed by the US regarding Mexico, where the import percentage is minimal and the export is high.
In April 2023, the US aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Mexico were 1,650 tonnes, which experienced a Month-on-Month influx of 130 tonnes or 7.88 per cent. Also, the exports stood at 12,100 tonnes in April 2023, which grew by 1,500 tonnes or 12.39 per cent Month-on-Month.
On a Year-on-Year scale, the imports from Mexico have soared by 770 tonnes or 76.24 per cent because, in May 2022, it was a mere 1,010 tonnes. But on the other side, the US exports of aluminium crude metals and alloys to Mexico have dampened on a Year-on-Year scale by 1,200 tonnes or 8.11 per cent from 14,800 tonnes in May 2022.
