The United States aluminium scrap imports from Canada in 1Q2021 totalled 98,300 tonnes – 478.24 per cent higher than 17,000 tonnes a year ago but 4.56 per cent less than 103,000 tonnes a quarter ago . In March, the United States imported 34,800 tonnes of aluminium scrap from Canada, which registered an increase of 18.77 per cent from 29,300 tonnes in February. In January, the US aluminium scrap imports from Canada stood at 34,200 tonnes.
On a year-on-year calculation, the US aluminium scrap imports from Canada in March 2021 stood 533.88 per cent higher than 5,490 tonnes.
The United States total aluminium imports (including aluminium crude metals and alloys and aluminium plates, sheets and bars) from Canada stood at 273,000 tonnes in March, up by 16.67 per cent from 234,000 tonnes in February. In January, the US imported 220,000 tonnes.
On a year-on-year basis, the United States total imports from Canada in March 2021 recorded a hike of 30.62 per cent from 209,000 tonnes.
In Q1, total imports amounted to 726,000 tonnes, up by 28.50 per cent from 565,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium scrap imports in March 2021 came in at 63,200 tonnes, up by 26.15 per cent month-on-month from 50,100 tonnes and 464.29 per cent year-on-year from 11,200 tonnes.
