Vedanta Aluminium, a business of Vedanta Limited and India's largest aluminium producer, has reportedly launched two new ranges of wire rods at PowerEdge 2024. One is AL59 Ingot, and the other is an electrical conductor (EC) grade wire rod.
The AL59 Ingot is ideal for remelting as it offers superior electrical conductivity, while the EC grade wire rod is suitable for winding strip applications with a balance of strength and formability. These products are made for high-precision use, such as fine drawing, conforming, and enamelling in transformer and winding applications.
Vedanta Aluminium, in response to the escalating electricity demand in India, has meticulously developed these products, aiming to develop the necessary infrastructure for optimum electricity utilisation from generation stations to load centres. In 2023, India's electricity demand surged by 7 per cent, and we are prepared to meet this challenge, with an expected average growth rate of 6 per cent through 2026.
Vedanta has closely observed the needs of the customers in the energy sector and developed these products. Vedanta Aluminium offers a wide range of high-quality products like EC-grade wire rods, alloy wire rods, and flip coils, specially engineered for the electrical industry. The company has a wire rod production capacity of 650,000 tonnes, using best-in-class technologies from Southwire (USA) and Continuus-Properzi (Italy), ensuring high precision and quality.
Vedanta Aluminium supplies these wire rod products to over 60 countries, which itself testifies to the global demand for Vedanta's aluminium wire rods.
