Embracing Capral's low-carbon aluminium LocAl® represents Versalux's commitment to environmental stewardship and decarbonising commercial buildings to combat climate change. In addition, this move also sets a positive example for the lighting industry in terms of working towards producing sustainable products.

Versalux has adopted Capral aluminium for two popular lighting products – INFINITI and VERSATUBE. INFINITI is a modern luminaire solution designed for mounting in long lengths. It is exclusively developed for LED and is available in suspended, recessed, and ceiling/wall surface-mounted versions. VERSATUBE is a newer range of products designed with a wide array of illumination solutions for both indoor and outdoor purposes. Featuring low-carbon extruded aluminium profile with die-cast aluminium end caps, the lighting product has optimum optical design, exuding creativity alongside effective and efficient results.

Explaining the purpose of adopting Capral's low-carbon aluminium, Versalux Director Greg Warner said: "Architects are increasingly interested in the environmental credentials of our products. Clients are seeking significant reductions in the carbon from their builds, not just the ongoing operational impacts but also the embodied carbon of the products specified within a project."

He added, "When we heard about Capral's LocAl® product, we felt this was a logical next step for us; we continue to explore ways to reduce the operational emissions associated with our products. This is a great step to reduce the embedded carbon within our luminaire's design."

Capral LocAl® was introduced in 2022 to offer Australian manufacturers a lower-carbon extruded aluminium option. LocAl® is a range of products containing two options - LocAl® Green, which emits 8kg CO2e/kg while being produced, and LocAl® Super Green, with carbon emissions of 4kg CO2e/kg, the lowest-carbon aluminium available globally.
