Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has expanded its 299 PHL-4TSI series of snap-in, four-terminal aluminium electrolytic capacitors, now offering voltage ratings of 350 V, 500 V, 550 V, and 600 V. This expansion provides designers across various industries with more versatile options.
{alcircleadd}About the capacitors
These capacitors are ideal for use in power supplies and inverters in both industrial and home appliance applications. By introducing these higher voltage ratings, Vishay aims to help designers minimise component count, reduce costs, and improve end product mechanical stability and longevity.
The 299 PHL-4TSI series capacitors are encased in cylindrical aluminium with pressure relief and are insulated by a blue sleeve. They offer high ripple current ratings ranging from 1.9 A to 7.6 A, allowing designers to use fewer components to meet application demands. Capable of operating at temperatures up to 105 °C, these capacitors have a long lifespan of over 5000 hours, even under high ripple currents.
Advantages of the four-terminal snap-in capacitors
One major advantage of these four-terminal snap-in capacitors is their ability to replace larger screw terminal capacitors connected by a bus bar with smaller, PCB-solderable components. This shift significantly reduces construction costs and simplifies the assembly process.
The capacitors in the 299 PHL-4TSI series feature larger can sizes, ranging from 35 mm by 50 mm to 45 mm by 100 mm, which further reduces the number of components needed in various applications. As polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, they are ideal for smoothing, filtering, and energy storage tasks.
Fully compliant with REACH and RoHS standards, these capacitors provide enhanced mechanical stability and feature a four-terminal configuration that ensures keyed polarity. This makes them a reliable solution for designers seeking to optimise system performance and efficiency.
