As lightweight and low carbon emissions have become the two prime criteria for manufacturing vehicles, aluminium is hogging maximum limelight as a crucial raw material in the transportation industry for obvious reasons. The silvery-white metal is lightweight and infinitely recyclable, which has made the use of aluminium popular in manufacturing automobiles.
{alcircleadd}To throw more light on the demand and consumption of aluminium in the transportation sector, AlCircle has published a report on “Future of Aluminium in Transportation Sector - an industry analysis with forecasts to 2027.”
The report has revealed that aluminium consumption in the global transportation sector stood at around 25.5 million tonnes in 2021, representing 27% of the total global usage of 93.5 million tonnes. It grew 5.8% per annum in a decade from 14.5 million tonnes in 2011. The consumption rate is expected to grow further to 26.7 million tonnes in 2022.
The report has also mentioned that China is the leading consumer of aluminium in the transportation sector. The country has used an estimated 10.5 million tonnes of aluminium in various transport applications in 2022. Going ahead, the usage will increase to about 2.7 million tonnes by 2027, owing to the rise in electric vehicle production in China.
Passenger cars account for the higher consumption of aluminium among other transportations, expecting to record a hike from 16.6 million tonnes in 2022 to about 19.9 million tonnes in 2027. Next is the aerospace sector that has fully leveraged the benefits of aluminium as a lightweight material.
If you wish to know what more information the report offers about the future of aluminium in the transportation sector, then here is a nutshell for you.
