World alumina production in July 2021 amounted to 12.234 million tonnes, reflecting a month-on-month growth of 3.18 per cent from 11.857 million tonnes, found the International Aluminium Institute. On a year-on-year basis, the production stood 7.95 per cent higher than 11.333 million tonnes.
{alcircleadd}In the past seven months of the year, world alumina production totalled 82.229 million tonnes, an increase of per cent from 77.152 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Daily average alumina production in July 2021 came in at 394,600 tonnes, down 0.15 per cent month-on-month from 395,200 tonnes but up 7.93 per cent year-on-year from 365,600 tonnes.
In China, the world’s leading aluminium market, alumina production came in at 6.730 million tonnes in July 2021, which was up by 3.38 per cent from 6.510 million tonnes in June 2021. On a year-on-year calculation, the output edged 12.92 per cent lower than 5.960 million tonnes. During January-July, alumina production in China stood at 44.45 million tonnes.
In Africa & Asia (ex-China), alumina production in July 2021 stood at 1.125 million tonnes, reflecting an increase of 5.83 per cent from 1.063 million tonnes in June 2021 and a growth of 3.21 per cent from 1.090 million tonnes in July 2020.
In the Oceania region, alumina output in July 2021 amounted to 1.790 million tonnes, growing by per cent from 1.766 million tonnes in June 2021, found the IAI.
