Here we see a quarter-on-quarter sluggish trend at the beginning of 2022, where the first three months recorded lesser production than the last three months of 2021. The consolidated world aluminium production for the first six months of 2022 was 33.690 million tonnes, where Q1 2022 fetched 16.566 million tonnes and Q2 2022 17.124 million tonnes.

China, as usual, produced the highest amount of aluminium, churning out 3.468 million tonnes in July 2022, a month-on-month rise of 112,000 tonnes or 3.34 per cent from 3.3356 million tonnes and a year-on-year gain of 141,000 tonnes or 4.23 per cent from 3.327 million tonnes. In the first seven months of 2022, China produced 23.171 million tonnes of primary aluminium in total.

Primary aluminium production in the Gulf Cooperation Council stood at 516,000 tonnes in July 2022 - 23,000 tonnes more than 493,000 tonnes in June 2022. On a monthly basis, the output climbed up by 18,000 tonnes from 498,000 tonnes.

Future of Aluminium in Transportation Sector

Only Asia (ex-China) and Oceania saw a yearly drop in aluminium production in July 2022, with the former losing 2,000 tonnes and the latter 6,000 tonnes. In Asia, July primary aluminium production was 382,000 tonnes, while in Oceania 153,000 tonnes.
