World primary aluminium production in November 2022 amounted to 5.611 million tonnes, reflecting a monthly drop of 3.21 per cent, showed the International Aluminium Insititute. However, the output in October recorded a month-on-month rise of 2.26 per cent from 5.669 million tonnes to 5.797 million tonnes.
{alcircleadd}On a year-on-year calculation, world primary aluminium production edged a hike of 3.79 per cent from 5.406 million tonnes.
From January to November 2022, world primary aluminium production totalled 62.472 million tonnes, down by 1.44 per cent from 61.571 million tonnes a year ago.
China, the world’s largest producer of primary aluminium, churned out 3.311 million tonnes in November 2022 – 3.2 per cent less than 3.421 million tonnes a month earlier but 7.19 per cent higher than 3.089 million tonnes a year ago.
In the eleven months of 2022, China produced 36.830 million tonnes, up by 3.08 per cent from 35.728 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
In the Gulf countries, primary aluminium production in November 2022 stood at 502,000 tonnes, registering a drop of 6,000 tonnes or 1.18 per cent from 508,000 tonnes, and a hike of 10,000 tonnes or 2.03 per cent from 492,000 tonnes.
From January to November 2022, the GCC region’s primary aluminium production totalled 5.553 million tonnes, plunged by 3.27 per cent year-on-year from 5.377 million tonnes.
Daily average production of primary aluminium in November 2022 was 187,000 tonnes, muted compared to the previous month despite a drop in total output.
