As the voice of the UK aluminium industry, ALFED is committed to ensuring that businesses across the entire value chain – producers, processors, recyclers, and end-users – have their priorities heard and represented. This survey will provide crucial insights into market challenges, investment needs, sustainability drivers, and trade concerns, helping to shape ALFED’s work in advocating for the industry at both policy and commercial levels.
Why this survey matters
The UK aluminium sector is at a pivotal moment, with increasing pressures from rising energy costs, global trade competition, regulatory changes, and decarbonisation goals. ALFED is calling on businesses to participate in this survey to provide essential data that will inform:
Driving industry action & government recognition
The data collected will play a key role in shaping discussions with government departments, including DESNZ, DBT, DEFRA, and Innovate UK, ensuring that the aluminium sector is positioned as a growth industry aligned with the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
Nadine Bloxsome, Chief Executive of ALFED, said: “The UK aluminium industry is facing a period of significant change, and it is essential that businesses have a platform to share their experiences, challenges, and ambitions. This survey will directly influence how we advocate for the sector – whether that’s securing the right policy support, driving funding into key areas, or developing initiatives that support members. We strongly encourage all businesses across the aluminium supply chain to take part and make their voice heard.”
A call to action for the UK aluminium sector
ALFED is urging all aluminium-related businesses to participate in the survey, whether they are involved in primary production, downstream processing, recycling, or supply chain services. The more responses received, the stronger the case ALFED can make when engaging with policymakers and industry stakeholders.
