Binzhou Beihai Regal Advanced Material Co., Ltd. has earned ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) Certification for its facility in Binzhou, Shandong, China. The Certification covers the production of high strength aluminium alloys, rare earth aluminium alloys, high thermal conductivity aluminium alloys, high-temperature resistant aluminium alloys, and other new aluminium alloy materials.
Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Binzhou Beihai Regal Advanced Material Co., Ltd. has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). The entity specialises in the research, development, production, and sales of new aluminium alloy processing technologies. It operates a casting facility with a current annual production of 88,000 tonnes. The site includes melting furnaces, casting lines, a dross cooler, a ball mill, and supporting infrastructure such as warehouses and a water reuse treatment station.
The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The independent, third-party audit of Binzhou Beihai Regal Advanced Material Co., Ltd. was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH. Nine minor non-conformances are noted under Criteria 3.3a-c Payments to Governments, 4.1a Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, 4.1b-c Environmental Life Cycle Assessment – Disclosure, 5.1a-b Disclosure of GHG Emissions and Energy Use, 5.3a-e GHG Emissions Reduction Plans, 5.4 GHG Emissions Management, 6.1a-f Emissions to Air, 9.2a-e Gender Equity and Women’s Empowerment and 11.1b-e Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System - Reviews and disclosure. During the Certification Period, Binzhou Beihai Regal Advanced Material Co., Ltd. will be implementing a corrective action plan, which will be verified in follow-up audits.
