According to the Shanghai Metal Market (SMM), alumina prices have again surged for the 5thday at a stretch. Today, as of 18th September, the price has ascended by RMB 7 per tonne, reaching RMB 3,975 per tonne. The increase in key regions like Henan, Shanxi and Guizhou is even higher, with prices up by RMB 10 per tonne in Henan and RMB 15 per tonne in both Shanxi and Guizhou. This brings the average price to RMB 3985 per tonne in Henan, RMB 4015 per tonne in Shanxi and RMB 3950 per tonne in Guizhou. The average prices remain unchanged in regions like Shandong and Guangxi, with an average of RMB 3,950 per tonne and RMB 3,955 per tonne, respectively.
{alcircleadd}Meanwhile, as of 18th September, the aluminium ingot price on the Shanghai Metal Market (SMM) soared by RMB 30 per tonne to balance out the market condition. The current average price is RMB 19,790 per tonne, within a range of RMB 19770 per tonne to RMB 19,810 per tonne. The spot contract will likely be traded at a premium price of RMB 20 per tonne to RMB 60 per tonne, averaging at RMB 40 per tonne.
The average price of low-carbon aluminium has also risen up by RMB 40 per tonne to RMB 20,635 per tonne. In contrast, prices for high-purity aluminium (99.99% and 99.996%) remain unchanged at RMB 26,80 per tonne for 99.99% purity and RMB 27,800 per tonne for 99.996% purity.
Regional Analysis
The average A00 aluminium ingot price ascended across all the provinces of China except for Gongyi province, where exceptionally, the price has dropped by RMB 10 per tonne to officiate at RMB 19,740 per tonne. The price is up by RMB 30 per tonne in most regions like Wuxi, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Shenyang, Tianjin and Linyi province. This brings the price at RMB 19,780 per tonne in Wuxi, RMB 19,790 per tonne in Hangzhou, RMB 19,740 per tonne in Chongqing and Tianjin province, RMB 19,720 per tonne in Shenyang and, RMB 19,760 per tonne in Linyi province. In Foshan province, the average price stands at 19,670 per tonne, up by RMB 10 per tonne from the previous day.
Other prices
The imported and domestic bauxite prices remain unchanged at US$ 76.61 per tonne and RMB 640 per tonne, respectively. With the price increase in the aluminium ingot market, the recent alumina price increase for five consecutive days might impact the future pricing trends for aluminium products.
Aluminium alloy ingot:
Aluminium alloys ingot (ADC12) prices have changed in all the regions. In all four regions, the price has escalated by RMB 100 per tonne, officially standing at RMB 20,400 per tonne in the east, south, northeast and southwest regions. Aluminium alloy (A356) remains the same at RMB 20,250 per tonne, and alloy (A360) prices have surged by RMB 50 per tonne to 20,500 per, fluctuating between RMB 20,400-20,600 per tonne. Aluminium alloy (A380) price increased by RMB 100 per tonne to clock at RMB 21,400 per tonne, ranging between RMB 21,300 per tonne to RMB 21,500 per tonne.
