SMM alumina price surged consecutively for 12 days by RMB 132/t, with A00 aluminium ingot price ascending by RMB 320/t today

According to the Shanghai Metal Market (SMM), today, the weekends have a surge in average prices of raw materials like alumina by RMB 16 per tonne, reaching RMB 4,074 per tonne. This brings the price higher by RMB 158 per tonne in one month from RMB 3,916 per tonne. The price has increased in some of the key regions.

Like in Guizhou, the average price reached RMB 4,050 per tonne, up by RMB 25 per tonne from the previous day. Henan, Shanxi, and Guangxi regions experience price hikes of RMB 20 per tonne, RMB 15 per tonne and RMB 10 per tonne to officially close at RMB 4,060 per tonne, RMB 4,140 per tonne and RMB 4,045 per tonne respectively. Also, Australian alumina FOB price has ascended by US$ 5 per tonne after two weeks, bringing the price higher by US$ 29 per tonne with an average of US$ 550 per tonne.

Also, raw materials like imported bauxite prices have escalated by US$ 0.8 per tonne to clock at US$ 77.5 per tonne. Interestingly, Australia bauxite and Guinea bauxite have inclined by US$ 2 per tonne and US$ 0.5 per tonne to clock at US$ 67 per tonne and US$ 75.5 per tonne.

Meanwhile, as of 27th September, the aluminium ingot price on SMM escalated tremendously by RMB 320 per tonne to balance the market condition. The current average price is RMB 20,310 per tonne, within a range of RMB 20,290 per tonne to RMB 20,330 per tonne. The spot contract is likely to be traded at a discounted price of RMB 70 per tonne to RMB 30 per tonne, with an average of RMB 50 per tonne.

The average price of low-carbon aluminium has also risen up significantly by RMB 343 per tonne to RMB 21,162 per tonne. The average prices for high-purity aluminium (99.99% and 99.996%) has skyrocketed by RMB 300 per tonne to reach at RMB 27,300 per tonne for 99.99% purity and RMB 28,300 per tonne for 99.996% purity.

Regional Analysis:

The average A00 aluminium ingot price has upswinged across all the provinces of China, with the highest average price in Wuxi and Hangzhou at RMB 20,310 per tonne, where in Wuxi the price is up by RMB 320 per tonne and in Hangzhou by RMB 310 per tonne.

In Gongyi and Shenyang provinces, the average price is RMB 20,290 per tonne and RMB 20,280 per tonne, up by RMB 350 per tonne and RMB 370 per tonne, respectively. The average price officially closed at RMB 20,260 per tonne in Chongqing, Linyi and Tianjin, where the price has soared by RMB 320 per tonne in Chongqing, RMB 270 per tonne in Linyi and RMB 260 per tonne in Tianjin. And lastly, in Foshan, the average price has increased by RMB 310 per tonne to reach RMB 20,120 per tonne.

Aluminium alloy ingot:

Aluminium alloys ingot (ADC12) prices have changed in all the regions except for southwest regions, the price has escalated by RMB 100 per tonne in east, south and northeast regions, officially standing at RMB 20,550 per tonne in both east and south region regions and RMB 20,500 per tonne in northeast region, fluctuating between RMB 20,450 per tonne to RMB 20,650 per tonne for east and south region and from 20,400 per tonne to RMB 20,600 per tonne for northeast region.

Aluminium alloy (A380) and alloy (A360) price has leap up by RMB 100 per tonne and RMB 300 per tonne to stand at RMB 21,700 per tonne and RMB 21,000 per tonne respectively. The average price ranges between RMB 21600 per tonne to RMB 21800 per tonne for (A380) and RMB 20900 per tonne to RMB 21100 per tonne for (A360). The aluminium alloy ingot (A356) price is standing at RMB 20750 per tonne, a hike of RMB 300 per tonne from the previous day.
