According to the Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), the average alumina spot price has surged significantly by RMB 94 per tonne to clock at RMB 4,398 per tonne. The prices have grown in most provinces, with the highest in Shandong and Shanxi, where it has skyrocketed by RMB 100 per tonne to settle at RMB 4,375 per tonne and RMB 4,475 per tonne. In Guangxi, the price has gained RMB 95 per tonne to arrive at RMB 4,335 per tonne, followed by a rise of RMB 80 per tonne and RMB 75 per tonne in Henan and Guizhou to peg at RMB 4,405 per tonne and RMB 4,300 per tonne.
Chinese aluminium producers, increasingly dependent on imported raw materials, are feeling the sharpest pinch, with alumina prices skyrocketing over the past week. A crisis is unfolding in the aluminium supply chain as alumina shortages push its price to a record high of $645 per tonne, nearly double the $330 per tonne seen at the end of last year. As per the SMM analysis, the Australian alumina FOB price has heightened to US$642 per tonne after witnessing a spike of US$42 per tonne today.
Other prices
The low carbon aluminium price has gained RMB 96 per tonne to clock at RMB 21,706 per tonne. On the same day, the price of high-purity aluminium (99.99%) price and high-purity aluminium (99.996%) were added to RMB 100 per tonne to arrive at RMB 27,800 per tonne and RMB 28,800 per tonne.
A00 aluminium ingot price
The A00 aluminium ingot price in China has risen by RMB 70 per tonne to reach RMB 20,810 per tonne, with the spot contract price expected to be traded at a premium price of RMB 10 to 50 per tonne. Today, the average prices are expected to range between RMB 20,790 per tonne and RMB 20,830 per tonne, providing a current snapshot of the market.
As of today, the price in Linyi has ascended by RMB 100 per tonne to arrive at RMB 20,840 per tonne. In regions like Tianjin, Gongyi, Foshan and Chongqing, the domestic aluminium ingot prices have grown by RMB 70 per tonne to dock at RMB 20,830 per tonne, RMB 20,780 per tonne, RMB 20,630 per tonne and RMB 20,720 per tonne. In Hangzhou the price has grown by RMB 60 per tonne to reside at RMB 20,810 per tonne. In Shenyang, the price has shot up by RMB 60 per tonne to reach RMB 20,830 per tonne, and in Wuxi, the price has added RMB 50 per tonne to peg at RMB 20,800 per tonne.
The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has risen by RMB 50 per tonne to stop at RMB 21,250 per tonne, with the average prices standing between RMB 21,100 per tonne and RMB 21,400 per tonne. For (ADC12) and (A380) the prices have remained unchanged at RMB 20,900 per tonne and RMB 21,900 per tonne.
