SMM: Aluminium ingot prices stabilise after a volatile week, provinces show mixed movements

As the first week of the last month concludes, the price of primary and secondary aluminium ingots in the Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) stretches towards stability despite the week-long ups and downs. On Thursday, December 6, the price of a00 primary aluminium ingot was listed within a range of RMB 20,380-20,420 per tonne. The week started with an average price of RMB 20,380 per tonne and ended at RMB 20,400 per tonne, ultimately gaining RMB 20 within a five-day span.

The spot contract, set to be traded on December 6, is expected to maintain premium pricing, with a premium of RMB 10-50 per tonne and an average of RMB 30 per tonne.

Provincial prices of primary aluminium

The average A00 aluminium ingot pricing decreased in all the provinces, with prices depicted as RMB 20,280 per tonne (-140) in Gongyi, RMB 20,370 per tonne (-160) in Foshan, RMB 20,400 per tonne (-140) in Wuxi, RMB 20,420 per tonne (-150) in Hangzhou, and RMB 20,390 per tonne (-140) in Chongqing. The a00 aluminium ingot pricing in the provinces of Shenyang, Tianjin and Linyi also descended this time on a similar ratio and stood at RMB 20,350 per tonne (-150), RMB 20,420 per tonne (-80), and RMB 20,320 per tonne (-150), respectively. The price range in the provinces has varied on Friday between RMB 20,400 per tonne to RMB 20,590 per tonne. When compared with other provincial prices, the price range and the average pricing in Gongyi have remained at the lower end.

Prices of secondary aluminium

The aluminium alloy ingot variants ADC12 and A380 saw no price change for the past ten days. On the other hand, variant A356 lost RMB 150 per tonne and settled at an average price of RMB 20,850 per tonne. Similarly, the aluminium alloy A360 also lost 150 bucks and was listed on the Friday market at RMB 21,100 per tonne.

Alumina price range

On Friday, the average price of alumina also tended towards maintaining stability without any further humungous rise. The average price gained RMB 10 per tonne and reached RMB 5,757 per tonne.

Coming to the provincial listing, the prices in Shandong, Lianyungang, and Bayuquan remained unchanged from the previous day's closing price. The prices of alumina

in Henan ranged between RMB 5,730 and RMB 5,800 per tonne with an average of RMB 5,765 per tonne (+5), and in Shanxi, it ranged between RMB 5,800 and RMB 5,870 per tonne with an average of RMB 5,835 per tonne (+15). In Guizhou and Guangxi, both the average prices were shown to be RMB 5,700 per tonne (+20), ranging from RMB 5,660 to RMB 5,740 per tonne.

Other prices

The high-purity aluminium ingot prices of 99.99 per cent and 99.96 per cent variants are RMB 27,500 per tonne (range RMB 27,200-28,000 per tonne) and RMB 28,500 per tonne (range RMB 28,200-29,000 per tonne) with a 100 bucks loss to yesterday's price. As for the low-carbon aluminium ingot, the price listed on SMM showed RMB 21,419 per tonne (-158).
