With the Green Deal, the European Union's ambitious goal is to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by a substantial 55 per cent by 2030 and 90-95 per cent by 2040, relative to 1990 levels, to become the world's first climate-neutral continent by 2050. As a lightweight metal with recyclable characteristics, aluminium is considered green, which benefits European sectors in reducing carbon emissions and has the potential to play a pivotal role in Europe's transition towards a greener future. However, a lot of work still needs to be done in legislation and policymaking, low carbon energy transition, technology development, sustainable value chain, etc.
