ALVANCE Aluminium Duffel BV has announced the supply of the first coils certified under the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Chain of Custody standard. The company will ship coils to the Audi plant in Neckarsulm for the Audi A6.
“The ASI Chain of Custody standard ensures that not only the operations at the facility in Duffel meet the ASI standards, but also that the aluminium material has been sourced and produced in a responsible and sustainable way across the entire supply chain, from the extraction of bauxite up to the finished product,” said ALVANCE Aluminium Duffel.
“At Audi, we believe in the power of collaborative action for sustainability. Having partners like ALVANCE is key for the implementation of ASI-certified value chains or setting up resource-efficient processes like aluminium closed loop recycling” said Mathias Kellner, head of metal purchasing at Audi.
“We are extremely proud to remain a trailblazer in establishing sustainable solutions. These first shipments of ASI-certified material are the forerunners for what will become the standard in our industry. This is another important milestone in our joint journey with our customers towards low carbon aluminium and a better future. I applaud the entire ALVANCE team for the dedication and effort invested into the successful completion of this project,” Geert Vannuffelen, General Manager at ALVANCE Aluminium Duffel said.
ALVANCE Aluminium Duffel is working with ALVANCE Aluminium Dunkerque to explore the potential for supplying metal for its automotive products.
Dunkerque smelter is also certified against ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium.
