Arconic opened expanded aluminium and titanium aerospace parts facility in Bestwig, Germany. The expansion increases production capacity to meet growing demand from commercial aircraft manufacturers. Bestwig operations employs approximately 900 people in the production of aluminium and titanium structural castings used in the latest, leading aircraft platforms.
{alcircleadd}Jeremy Halford, President Arconic Engineered Structures said: “We have significantly invested in Arconic Bestwig’s capabilities, almost doubling our titanium parts production capacity, and have added state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment as part of our efforts to better serve our customers.”
“Combined with our previous investments in Bestwig, this latest expansion is providing additional capacity to deliver even more of the titanium components our customers need to build aircraft at high volumes.”
The company said in its press release that the expansion is enabling increased production of large titanium structural castings up to 1.5 meters in diameter for leading commercial aircraft platforms. The aluminium and titanium aerospace parts facility employs the latest in advanced manufacturing equipment for more efficient production.
Arconic completed construction on the expansion in early 2017. Phase one of commercial production started in Q2 2017 and Phase two began in Q2 2018.
Arconic recently launched expansions to increase aero engine parts production in Whitehall, Michigan and Morristown, Tennessee and installed advanced aerospace plate manufacturing capabilities in Davenport, Iowa.
