SNSTech, an Austin-based tech firm, has reportedly launched a resealable, 100 per cent aluminium drinks can called SipNShut. It has zero percentage of plastic and is fully recyclable.
{alcircleadd}Designed by Bill Brandell, President of SNSTech, the can is specially made in response to consumer demand with an easy sliding function to open and close ensuring a smooth pour.
“We did our homework and without doubt consumers want reclosable cans but the options on the market today are not attractive,” Brandell said.
“They mix plastic and metal, don’t work well on canning lines and are awkward for consumers to open. We focused on fixing all of those issues,” he added.
While cans have become increasingly popular over the last several years, they have not kept pace with the how and where consumers drink their beverages. A recent research conducted among 339 randomly selected US adults found that about 60 per cent of American adults looked for resealable cans while 70 per cent of them aged between 18 and 29 particularly prefer reclosable option.
“Consumers like aluminum cans but they’re easily spilled once opened. SipNShut lets people take previously opened drinks cans with them on the go the same way they would a plastic bottle,” Chris Schorre, CMO of SipNShut said.
“Given the growing consumer pushback against plastic, SipNShut also offers drinks brands a more sustainable packaging alternative to plastic bottles,” he added.
Brandell has used patented technology for designing the can and now really hopes that it appeal to consumers, especially who like to keep sand or bees out of cans at the beach or in the park.
The design will be unveiled at the BevNet Winter show in Santa Monica on December 3, 2018, and is expected to hit shelves in the US next autumn.
