Confoil, a food packaging maker hailing from Australia, has amplified the manufacture of smoothwall trays at its regional plant in Melbourne due to a massive investment in brand-new presses.
Confoil is a privately owned Australian firm that can trace back its origin to half a century. The lineage is still active, working relentlessly on the field to keep up the family name.
The CEO of Confoil, Alison Buxton, exclaimed: “This substantial investment has been driven by growth and demand of our popular smoothwall trays.”
“We are seeing an increase in interest for locally produced packaging. Especially in the areas of ready-made meals, ready-to-cook meal kits and pre-prepared cuts of meat,” he added.
Smoothwall trays are composed of rigid, heavy-gauge aluminium with a flexible flange so that they can incorporate heat sealing or clip-on lids. These trays are strong enough to be transferred directly from the freezer to the microwave without minimal food or packaging damage. The heavy-gauge aluminium helps in keeping the shape of the tray intact.
Buxton specified: “Local manufacturing is important to us on a number of fronts. We are supporting local jobs, supporting the local community and producing products which adhere to the highest quality standards. Our products also travel less distance than imports, so they are a better choice all around.”
These aluminium trays are available in various sizes, and recently the company introduced a new size alongside two new, improved blueprints. Confoil manufactures its trays with 100% recyclable aluminium, which means the used trays can be traded for new material as the non-ferrous metal is infinitely recyclable.
Confoil has partnered with a food stylist and photographer to commemorate the release by displaying local food components in smoothwall aluminium trays. The exotic recipes include macadamia & lemon myrtle loaf, loads of chicken, lamb and kangaroo meatballs with saltbush and native pepper berry. All the mentioned recipes are available on Confoil’s web portal.
