Austria’s aluminium scrap imports from global markets increased 5 per cent year on year in 2017. The country’s total import is estimated to increase to 304157 tonnes this year, up 3.3 per cent from last year. On the other hand, aluminium scrap export by the country showed no growth in 2017. Total volume remained unchanged at 169448 tonnes last year.

{alcircleadd}According to global import-export data, Austria imported about 294369 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2017, a decrease of 13856 tonnes from 308225 tonnes in 2016. The country’s total aluminium scraps import was valued at US$382 million in 2017, up from US$339 million in 2016.
Austria is estimated to import 304157 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2018, up 9788 tonnes from last year. The value of import is estimated to be about US$ 395 million.
The top exporters of aluminium scrap to Austria in 2017 were Germany (183555 tonnes), Switzerland (23624 tonnes), Czech Rep. (11424 tonnes), Poland (18606 tonnes), Slovakia (8807 tonne) and France (8321 tonnes).
On the export side, Austria exported about 169210 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2016 and the value of export was US$109 million in 2016. The country’s total exports remained unchanged at 169448 tonnes in 2017. Total aluminium scraps export was valued at US$117 million.
Austria is estimated to export 172287 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2018, up 2839 tonnes from last year. The value is estimated to stand unchanged at US$117 million in 2018.
Germany, top importer of Austria aluminium scrap, imported 58637 tonnes in 2017. Other importing countries were Italy (37508 tonnes), Czech Rep. (13776 tonnes) and Romania (13081 tonnes)
