Ball Corporation has reportedly created a collection of newly designed, infinitely recyclable 250ml cans for Dorset-based UK beverage brand Jimmy’s Iced Coffee (‘Jimmy’s’).
With the adoption of aluminium cans, Jimmy’s can achieve its environmental aim of removing plastic from packaging in 2020. Aluminium cans in Europe have an average recycling rate of 75 per cent.
{alcircleadd}The partnership between Ball and Jimmy’s started in 2019 with the launch of the original Flat White in cans. Following that, Jimmy’s worked with Ball to produce three brand-new canned Flat Whites – Skinny, Oat, and Extra Shot Flat White.
All three Iced Flat Whites are below 150 calories and come in 250ml infinitely recyclable aluminium cans, with distinctive and fresh designs with two-tone packaging and Jimmy’s timeless new logo. Waitrose, Tesco, and other major supermarkets will be the first to debut the new canned iced coffees.
Luke Wilkes, Operations Director, Jimmy’s Iced Coffee, said: “Championing sustainability has always been at the heart of Jimmy’s offering, so switching to aluminium is a natural next step for us. Infinitely recyclable aluminium allows us to supply our customers in more environmentally friendly packaging and further embed sustainability in our business. We’re excited to be working with Ball who are one of the leaders in this area.”
Greg Mucha, European Business Development Manager, Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA, said: “With more consumers, retailers and brands demanding sustainable solutions, aluminium cans, which can be recycled over and over, without loss of quality, are the fastest growing packaging type in Europe[1]. At Ball, we love to work closely with customers looking to transition to a higher performing package and our recent ASI certification for all our EMEA plants and commitments to renewables demonstrates that we are fully committed to sustainable business.”
Earlier this month, 23 plants of Ball Corporation in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa earned Performance and Chain of Custody Standard Certification from Aluminium Stewardship Initiative.
